Mauro Raspini has been fly fishing for forty years. He began building artificial flies before he had even learned how to cast. He considers building flies a form of art comparable to painting and architecture. An art, which as happens with painting and architecture, involves a lot of knowledge. An art which cannot be separated from the study of insects and of the past.Today, his collection of ancient texts includes over 250 volumes and just as many invertebrates fill his array of test tubes. He collaborates with international magazines has been collaborating with Fly Line for over twenty years. In 2001, he published “La Roccia Condivisa”, “The Shared Rock, writings of flies, fish, rivers and other stories”. He is president of the Ichthyos association and of the Altotevere Mosca Club, manager of the homonymous Tail Water and of the World Tuscany Open and has consistently championed the protection of fluvial environments. Carrying out numerous projects in schools, he has encouraged education on such environments. Pens, hammers and scalpels, brushes, gouges, lenses for macrophotography and the computer are the instruments which he uses to capture the moments of river life. These tools also allow him to investigate – at times in an esoteric fashion – the small dimension of the insects to understand the large dimension of the universe. A guest at the largest events both in Europe and in the US, participating as a nature builder and photographer, he appeared in the prestigious publication “Fly Tyers of the World”. Fly Fisherman of the Year in 2077, Mauro is Partridge of Redditch International Pro Team. In 2011 he published the work “The Fly” in two volumes. The first, titled ‘The Fly – The genesis’ explores the history of artificial fly making with the intent of perpetuating culture and memory in a comprehensive way. The second, titled: ‘The Fly- Sacred and Profane’, is a book on dressings and their elaboration. In 2012 he published “CDC Evolution”, available in Italian, English and French.
Mauro Raspini pesca con la mosca da 40 anni ed ha iniziato a costruire artificiali prima di imparare a lanciare. Considera la costruzione delle mosche una forma di arte, paragonabile alla pittura ed alla architettura, quindi imprescindibile dalla conoscenza degli insetti e del passato. La sua libreria di testi antichi conta oggi più di 250 volumi ed altrettanti sono gli invertebrati che conserva in provetta. Collabora con riviste estere e da ben 20 anni lo fa con Fly Line. Nel 2001 pubblica “La roccia condivisa”, scritti di mosche, di pesci, di fiumi e altre storie. Presidente dell’associazione Ichthyos e del Mosca Club Altotevere, gestore della omonima Tail Water e del World Tuscany Open, è da sempre impegnato nelle tematiche legate alla difesa degli ecosistemi fluviali e dell’educazione all’ambiente con numerosi progetti con le istituzioni scolastiche. Stilografica, martello e scalpelli, pennelli, sgorbie, obiettivi per macrofotografia e computers sono gli strumenti con cui cerca di fissare nel tempo e nella memoria “istanti” della vita nascosta nei fiumi ed indagare, a volte in chiave esoterica, il piccolo degli insetti per capire il grande dell’universo. Ospite ai principali eventi in Europa ed USA come costruttore e fotografo naturalista, nel 2007 è Pescatore a Mosca dell’anno insieme al suo fraterno amico Luca Castellani e compare nella prestigiosa pubblicazione “Fly Tyers of The World”. Partridge of Redditch Pro-Team per l’Italia. Nel 2011 è in pubblicazione il suo libro “The Fly”, un’opera sullo scibile classico delle mosche artificiali, votata a perpetuarne la cultura e la memoria in modo globale. Ad essa sarà associato il superspeciale 2011, libro di dressing con le sue elaborazioni in tema di modelli artificiali prettamente da pesca, una sorta di estrema razionalizzazione di tutto ciò che ha costituito la conosenza storica progressiva nelle mosche artificiali. Nel 2013 pubblica “CDC Evolution”, l’edizione è disponibile in 3 lingue, Italiano, Inglese e Francese.
